Frequently Answered Questions
Questions we are commonly asked, and answers we typically give.
How close are you to Main Street?
Our multiple properties are spread throughout the city of Fredericksburg and vary in distance. Each one is designed to fit a unique “ideal” of home, some guests preferring a more rural setting, and others wanting to be closer to town. Below are estimated distances for each group of units:
The Gathering: 1 mile from Main Street
Behrends Family Homestead: 12 miles
Austin 412: 1 block off Main Street
Are the hot tubs truly private?
Each courtyard has its own private and unshared hot tub with a 6-7ft fence surrounding it. Great care has gone into making sure your time spent inside of your unit is intimate and just for you. The only unit not completely enclosed is the Cora at Behrends Family Homestead and it has no back fence to take advantage of the beautiful views of the farmland and hills.
How do I book a wine tour?
We encourage our guests to use TripAdvisor for the most up-do-date resource on booking a wine tour. For an economical tour of the wineries, you can catch a shuttle from the Fredericksburg Visitor’s Center that runs on Saturdays and Sundays for $24.99 per person. You can sign up and pay online before you arrive.
Are your units stand alone?
Funny you should ask, nearly everyone does! Each unit on the property is located very close to other units. The Gathering Guesthouses consists of tightly packed, but entirely standalone structures. Behrends Family Homestead has one duplex on the property, the Judy and the Melvin share 1 wall. Austin 412 is a single old home, every unit has its own private entry, but you will share a wall with another guest. Knowing this, we have added a great deal of insulation to the walls and floors to increase your sense of privacy.
Is your property quiet?
Quiet is always the goal however each property is characterized by its own unique priorities. The Gathering Guesthouses on Post Oak are by far our quietest rooms in stand alone units. Located far from any main thoroughfare and adjacent to a pasture, unless the neighborhood livestock make noise, it’s very quiet and peaceful.
Behrends Family Homestead is located in the heart of the wine country on highway 290. The Judy and Melvin duplex is close to the highway and have some road noise; however, its a small price to pay to have the wineries on your door step. The Cora, however, sits far enough from the road that you will forget the wineries are so close. It’s very quiet.
Austin 412 is only one block from main street. Built in 1900, it retains the old charm of a hundred year old house; however, with recent updates it will soothe you after a long day on Main St. It's on a quiet street to be so close to all the action.
Do you allow pets?
We do not currently allow pets at our properties but this is something we are considering for the future!
